This quilt was inspired by Michael Angelo's "La Pieta" and Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Pie Jesu".

The ink sketch of the sculpture is from a photograph of the sculpture. Free motion machine quilted on commercially printed fabric. Embellished with hand-written calligraphy on *"Papel Amate" from Mexico. The words "Have mercy on us" are in English, Spanish, and Italian.

*Papel Amate is Mexican bark paper, hand-crafted for centuries and still made today.
